“Angry people are not always wise.” – Jane Austen

After a standoff in the pizza parlor, Elsie Bennet has decided Fitzwilliam “I-Throw-Fitz” Darcy is the worst customer she’s ever encountered. Also the best looking, but that’s beside the point. She’s horrified to discover Will is not just passing through her small town, he’s her new neighbor.

Will Darcy has all the money and time he could ask for, and yet life never seems to meet his expectations. When his best friend, Charlie, starts dating Jane Bennet, Will becomes their unhappy third-wheel. The solution? Bring along Jane’s sister, Elsie, a girl who challenges him, makes him laugh, plagues his thoughts, and unfortunately, hates his guts.

Will might control a lot of things, but he won’t control her. Elsie’s already been warned away by her new friend, Jeff Wickham, who found out the hard way that Will is not someone to be crossed. Things would be so much simpler if she was attracted to Jeff. But she’s not. She’s attracted to Will, and the tug-o-war between her mind and her heart is going to drive her mad.

A modern day take on Pride and Prejudice with all the characters you know and love.

She was completely not his type. A small town girl with a dead-end job, too mouthy for her own good. And yet there was something about her that got his blood pumping.

this, 100%

A clean
, contemporary Pride and Prejudice retelling?? Yes. Yes, PLEASEEEEE!! This book had so many feelings. So much tension. I. Could. Not. Stop. Myself. From swooning. Needless to say, Mr. Darcy didn't disappoint. 😏

where are all my mr. darcy lovers at?? 😍

While there are similarities to the original story (because this book is a retelling), I will say that I loved how the author switched up different aspects of it. And no, I'm not going to give any examples, you'll just have to trust me and read the story for yourself. 😘

two words: chris. hemsworth,

Okay, I want to share some lines/quotes from the book. Is that allowed? Can I do that? Well, it's my book blog..I kind of make the rules around here, so I can MOST DEFINITELY do that. 😎😎😎

“Caroline, stop this. You know we would never work.” I don't always make little comments on the lines/quotes I share, but I'm going to on this one FOR SURE. Caroline needed to back off, and leave Elsie's man aloneeeee.

📖

A shiver went through her as his eyes took her in, as if seeing her in a new light. She wasn’t sure if his gaze was smug or appreciative. Maybe there was a little of both.

Was there a little of both??? (You'll have to read to find out, my friends.)

📖

When he wasn’t completely exasperated with her, all he thought about was taking her in his arms and kissing her senseless. I'm not swooning. YOU are. (I lied, I am totally swooning.)

📖

Jane nodded. “We should probably stop drinking hot chocolate every night too.” Elsie wasn’t quite as ready to commit to that.

I relate to this on a very high level. (Also, yes, I think I'm going to comment on each of these.)

📖

She smiled and turned to look at him. “Like you said, it reminds me of how we met.”
“See.” He loved it when she admitted he was right about something.

Y'all, these two...ahhhhhh, I just can't even.

📖

"Elsie."

👀👀👀👀👀 (It's a specific part, just trust meeeeee!!!)

my internal reaction looked like this baby, peeps.
enough said.

I could share soooooooo much more from this book, but I don't want to spoil anything, so I'm not going to. Just know that I could.

All in all, I loved the story. I really did. I wish it had been a tadddd bit longer, but I got an epilogue...so I can't complain too much, lol.

As far as content goes: C. L. E. A. N. Sure, Collin was (very) forward and made me cringe several different times, but it was definitely a clean read. 👏💕

If you love Pride and Prejudice (or book boyfriends that have a hard time expressing themselves, but once they do, it's BEAUTIFULLLLL) then I think you should give this sweet/snarky book a try!!! 💗💗
